What happens to my booking in the case of a Force Majeure?

A Force Majeure is any occurrence that is unforeseeable, unavoidable and no party can be held accountable for it. In short, it relates to the concept of ‘act of God’, which is out of human’s control - natural disasters, for example.

We, of course, hope nothing bad ever happens, but unfortunately some things are simply out of our control.

In the case of a Force Majeure, our crisis team is closely monitoring the news and in contact with our local partner(s) to be informed on these kind of situations. In case a Force Majeure situation occurs, we do our utmost to provide our travellers assistance and support, together with our local partners.

Please feel free to contact us when you are in the know of a Force Majeure situation or when having any doubt or questions regarding your trip.

In case you have a future holiday that is affected by a Force Majeure, we will contact you as soon as possible with alternatives, such as an alternative destination, a change in your itinerary or, in the more severe cases, we may have to cancel your trip.

As a Force Majeure is not caused by a failure of TravelBird, we will try to look for a reasonable solution that pleases all parties involved. Most cancellation insurance policies do cover Forces Majeures, but not every insurance company does. Bearing this in mind, if your trip is cancelled due to a force majeure, please contact your insurance company to ask them if they will compensate you.

In the unfortunate event a Force Majeure happens when you’re on holiday, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our utmost best to make sure you return home safely.
